Give Love 2009 was more than a success, it was a blast. It was heart-warming seeing all the kids and the ate's and the kuya's enjoying themselves. Good job, Give Love organizers! ^_^ Thanks as well to our sponsors and volunteers. This would not have been possible without your generosity, support and dedication to bring joy to these kids. Sa uulitin!

This is what we're going to give the kids... so far ^_^
Because of our sponsors' and volunteers' generosity. we were able to give a very fine loot bag set for the kids *wink*
I'd also like to commend the Shopping Committee and friends for being persistent in looking for a quality yet nice-looking stuff for the kids and also the muscles among the team who carried the shopping to almost everywhere *claps*
This is what we're going to give the kids... so far (see picture). I say SO FAR because... *drums rolling* we're going to give them additional packages ^_^ In fact, we're planning to give them a Christmas basket consisting of essentials such as: soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste and maybe something for Christmas ^_^
The Shopping Committee and friends haven't decided yet what other things to include in the basket but as for now, each basket will amount to 300 pesos ^_^
Good luck to the Shopping Committee and friends for another challenge ^_^
In behalf of the PCHRD Jologs barkada, we would like to thank from the bottom of our hearts our generous sponsors and volunteers for your support on our project ^_^
The adventures of the Shopping Committee and friends
It was a very exciting day for the Shopping Committee and friends. Armed with a piece of paper for our shopping list and brimming with enthusiasm, off our team went to Divisoria.
As soon as we reach the bridge going to Divi, everything was non-moving and a traffic enforcer was directing us to take a detour. But then, all roads going to Divi was jammed with traffic. We even had a near-confrontation experience when the jeep we were riding deadlocked with a car from the other lane. We advised our jeppney driver to not confront the other driver coz we were worried the other driver might be carrying a weapon. Good thing, our jeepney driver heeded us ^_^
Since it was traffic, traffic everywhere and we were running late, we decided to walk to the New Divisoria Mall. I'm not really familiar with the streets and landmarks around Divi but all I can say was, it was a bit of a walk; going around cars in the middle of the road and item displays on the sidewalks teehee ^_^
The first thing that we were able to buy were the toys (for the bags and prizes ^_^). I guess it's the easiest coz they were everywhere. Next stop was the water bottle.
We weren't able to find the shirts, shorts and bags that we wanted so we decided to go to the Tutuban Mall. Along the way, we saw a group of gays selling plain white shirt. They gave us the shirt for 50 pesos each initially, but later gave it to us for 45 pesos. We thought it was a bit expensive coz we were asking the shirt for 35 pesos. So we left the stall.
Lo and behold, as we got to Tutuban, the cheapest that we got to with the same shirt was 75 pesos! So we said NO to these and kept on thinking about the 45 pesos shirt hehehe
The slippers were a no-brainer coz a few walk from the entrance of the Tutuban Mall, we saw these 3 for a 100 pesos slippers ^_^ Without thinking twice, we choose Dora slippers, Power Rangers slippers, and Tom and Jerry slippers. Weee!
We went around looking for shorts but the designs that we kept on bumping into were for girls *sigh* It was really hard looking for a unisex shorts. But then, God really provides. We saw this good enough shorts for the kids that would go well with either boy or girl. We asked how much and the saleslady said 50 pesos. I asked if we can have them at 3 for 100 and the owner said YES! Woohoo! Another great deal for us ^_^
So the last and I think the hardest find was the bag. We saw other bags that would've been ok but... nah! We didn't go for it because the material wasn't really that nice and were small. We also got to this bag stall where they sell really nice katya bags. Unfortunately, it was a bit expensive for our budget. Some of us were exhausted and would've wanted to settle with those bags but no...
As they say: When in doubt, DON'T. Us, girls, decided to walk around a bit. The boys were really tired carrying our heavy load hehehe Just as we were crossing the street, we saw this bag store where they sell everything for 50 pesos. And the perfect bag for the kids were there! Hurray!
When we went back to the gays selling the shirt, we asked again how much for the shirt they said 50 pesos but they can give it to us at 45 pesos a shirt. We said 40 pesos. They asked how many pieces are we getting. We said 15. OK, so they said ^_^ Ahh... the art of bargaining ^_^
Finally! We were able to get all the loot bags stuff.
As I've said on my email to the Jologs previously, it was all worth it: the elbowing with people, trying to get your way around... the long walks... and the last but definitely not the least, Ully's bag being slashed. Good thing, the thief was not able to get either of Ully's wallet or celphone.
We were very exhausted but our grins reached our ear. It was really all worth it! ^_^

labindalawang araw na lang!
mukhang super excited na ang lahat. the frequent exchange of mails in the pchrd jologs group mail is one evidence to that. each updating their own committees.
there is a meeting tonight at 6.30PM headed by the chief and each committee members.
Manong is reminding everyone that everyone has to answer the survey for the t-shirt sizes.
Ate Grace is reminding everyone to give updates on the contribution and those who have not yet given their contributions and donations to give it to her. (that would be me.hehehe)
Update regarding the meeting tonight will be posted in the coming days.
Happy holidays! Give Love!

UPDATE: Minutes of the Meeting
(as posted by Ate Michelle)
Minutes of Working Committee Meeting,
Starbucks 6750,
Nov. 24, 2009
Attendance:
Michelle, Janice, Ully, Ron, Alex, Alma, Vince, Pearl, Sweet, Efren, Grace, Gelo
Note: No representatives from Docu and Program Committee. hehehe
Highlights/Updates:
ACTIVITY: Adopt a Kid
VENUE: La Mesa Eco Park:
I. Changes/Adjustments in Plans:
1. We will have the Adopt a Tree in the morning and the Adopt a Kid in the afternoon.
(This is because the kids have other activities in the morning)
2. Due to budget constraints, we have to drop the Puppet Show Package for the kids. Instead, we will have a customized program and picnic with the kids.
Note to Program Committee (although not part of the official meeting): Around 1-3:30 pm yung program natin. Suggested 'major' games/actvities are: Treasure hunt/ Eco Race (ask around kung ano mas maganda, parang tiring pag both) Greeting Card Competition/ or any activity na sit ang kids at ang partner nilang ate at kuya. Getting to know you game (point kc ng adopt a kid is talagang dapat may bonding tau na with our partner kids) Since wala na din tayong eco tour package, pede din magkaron ng alloted time for this. Budget activities may eb provided, sample, gusto nyo mag bike ng partner kid mo or something, may mga activties kase sa Eco Park na may addtl bayad, we can provide for this I think. Siguro max of 100 lang per kid. Para naman ma feel ng kids na talagang "pasyal' ito for them.

No Updates but represented by Vince and Pearl. :) Vince said he will ask Kuya Choy (tama ba? ) and the DOST Coop.
Since, we will rent the vehicle for the day, it was agreed that we can also use this to go to the Eco Park for our morning activity (Adopt a Tree) Pick up Point: Philcoa. (Or kung madadaanan kayo ng way kung san manggaling yung sasakyan)
Note: Vince, sabi nag ni Uly, ang transpo, moving dapat. hehehee.Para d mabawasan ang budget mo hheheheh. )
c. Food (Budget: 5,000)
With proposal from Sweet. :) Apparently however, her menu is for lunch but we'll serve merienda to the kids lang. :) So sweet said she will revise her set menu. One major consideration is our food should be packed in an eco-friendly manner, otherwise it defetas one of the purposes of our activity (bawal styro-- hinde biodegradable)
Suggested Menu:
For the Kids:
Spaghetti (plus cupcakes na decorated para masaya tingan? hehehe)
For Lunch: (JOLOGS ONLY)
Pansit (c/o Fred)
Lumpia (para pde ding pang merienda)
(Bbq kaya?)
Note. We're still not sure if kasya aba ang 5k na budget if isasama dun ang lunch nating lahat. If ever, hinde, we can buy there na lang or bring our own binalot) (Bawal ang styro/not eco friendly packaging. ehehe)
d. Shirt (4,000 - 4500)
Efren and I have already talked to a supplier, possible price range of shirt is from 130-150. Don't worry guys, this is accounted for sa 1k contibution nyo.
Note: Janice will check the qaulity of shirts mamaya from my officemate-supplier , naninipisan kc ako i need 2nd opinion) if ever hanap tau iba supplier or printing na lang sa kanila. efren, ikaw decide.
Initially we will order around 30 shirts, yung sobra bbgay sa mga donors. :)
e. Shopping/Giveaways/ Prizes (P 5,000)
Shopping for prizes and giveaways is set on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009. Meeting time is 7am.
Note: Pls set the mtg place. Baka may iba pa gusto sumama. :) Open for suggestions pa pala kung ano ang gift natin for the kids. Budget is around 200/kid. May mga nagdonate na ng school supplies so iba pa. :)
f. Documentation:
Note: Walang updates kc walang rep. hehehe, pero ok naman ang ating blog site. You can also opt to promote our activity thru twitter/facebook/ etc.
III. Other Volunteers
Our friends/families/ officemates are welcome to join the activity. They will not be required to contribute 1k each. They can voluntarily donate any amount but we wont oblige them. They will however have to pay for their entrance. (P50) and contribute for the food
(P100-150) siguro and they can avail of the shirt na din at P150) So in all, mga 300-350 ang contribution nila, pero let's be clear to them na para yun sa entrance nila at food nila at shirt (pede ding d sila mag avail ng shirt)
To date, there are 3 friends who confirmed \to join us.
1.Rachelle (sister ko)
2. Dan (efren/Sweet)
3. Friend (sweet)

A Letter for the Give Love 2009 event
Dear Friends,
Christmas season is just lurking around the corner and what better way to celebrate Christmas but to share our blessings to others, right? Isn’t it so great to give back and give love?
If you are looking for a venue to express your generosity, we are more than delighted to invite you to join our “Give Love 2009” outreach project that we, the Jologs, are organizing. This is the second year that we are doing it and for this year, we opted to “Adopt a Child. Adopt a Tree.” We are planning to adopt street kids for a day and bring them to La Mesa Eco Park for a fun-filled day entwined with activities on environmental awareness. Now is the time to do something to save the planet, don’t you agree? Further, we also intend to adopt a tree in La Mesa Eco Park, with the hope that this very small initiative of adopting a tree will contribute in the gigantic goal of saving the Earth.
ACTIVITY: Adopt a Tree. Adopt a Child.
VENUE: La Mesa Eco Park
DATE: December 12, 2009, 9am - 3pm
Any donation/contribution that you would like to share is very much welcome. You can opt to share:
1) TIME – Volunteer on Dec 12 and adopt a kid. Extra pair of hands will surely be useful for us in looking after the kids and taking care of the logistics. However, if you volunteer, you will have to shoulder your entrance fee (PhP 50), transportation and food (we will make the necessary arrangements for the food of everyone who will be present on that day but we will ask for contribution for this)
2) MONEY – Any amount that you would like to give will go a long way in helping the kids and the environment. But if you donate at least PhP1,000, we will give you a free shirt (mind you, this is a nicely designed shirt). Please see this link (http://www.binarytuko.com/giveLove/), we have agreed to print the blue one.
3) TOYS, CLOTHES, SLIPPERS, SCHOOL SUPPLIES, ETC. – Be creative and resourceful on anything that you think will be useful for the kids. We would gladly bring them to the kids.
4) ALL OF THE ABOVE – I don’t want to put a limit to your generosity, so feel free to help us in any ways you can. I’m sure this will put a huge grin on kids’ faces.
Drop us a line, send an SMS or give us a ring. We would be more than glad to answer your queries and accept your donations.
Visit http://jologsgiveloveproject.blogspot.com/ for more details.
Many, many thanks and looking forward to your generosity.
Yours Truly,

UPDATE: Give Love: Adopt A Child . Adopt A Tree Project
This year's Give Love Project Activity has been settled and Ate Michelle has posted the following details on the email:
Hi all,
After our two online surveys and initial consultations, the following ideas are agreed upon:
ACTIVITY: Adopt a Tree, Adopt a Child
VENUE: La Mesa Eco Park
DATE: Dec. 12, 2009, 9am - 3pm
DETAILS/ CONCEPT:
Since the adopt a kid and tree planting activity both won our automated survey, we will do both for our outreach program this year.
Adopt A Kid
We will be partnering with an orphanage/instituti on that gives shelter to street children (tentative: CCF) We'll "take out" around 15-20 kids and bring them to La Mesa Eco Park.
Each jologs member will be paired off with a kid. He/she will take full responsibility in taking care of the kid assigned to him/her. They will be partners in activities like treasure hunt/Eco Race and design a shirt competition. (hence the term "adopt a kid", Program Committee na po bahala sa mga games na ito)
There will be games, puppet show and nature trek for the kids. (package po ito sa La mesa eco park)
Adopt a Tree
In the afternoon, there will be nursery planting and jologs fellowship (hindi po inuman ito, hehe)
BUDGET:
We will need an estimate of around 25,000PhP - P 30,000.00 PhP
Broken down as follows:
Adopt a Tree Package: P5,000
(nursery planting, waived entrance to La Mesa Eco Park for at least 20 pax, bantay kalikasan certificate, 20 adopted trees)
M3 Package : P 6,000
Puppet show/nature trek for the kids, 200/kid, min of 30 kids.
Transpo:P3,000
(Or meron ba volunteer na sasakyan? :) )
Food: P5,000
(Kaya ba ng Food Committee na pagkasyahin to for the kids and jologs mems? may isang bilaong pancit naman from Fred, hehehe)

Project Update: Ate Michelle is taking over the Project Coordination
An email sent by Ate Michelle dated November 5, 2009 (Tuesday at 6:11PM) states that she'd be taking over the coordination of this year's Give Love Project.
She has stated some concerns regarding the activities and will be expecting a reply soon! "Need your inputs before Tuesday (November 10, 2009)."
Details are as follows:
So, it's decision time again, everyone! Be sure to make your voice be heard by replying through the email or making a comment in this entry.
Happy decision making and happy weekend to everyone!
She has stated some concerns regarding the activities and will be expecting a reply soon! "Need your inputs before Tuesday (November 10, 2009)."
Details are as follows:
Dear JOLOGS,
I am officially taking the responsibility to lead this year's outreach program. :) I hope okay lang sa inyo. D na kc makausap si Nie dahil sa work nya. Pero rest assured guided nya ako (naks, mentor :) )
Anyway, since nanalo ang adopt a street kid na option, I guess we should design the activity with our beneficiaries in mind. :) So decide na po tau anong age group ang gusto natin at kung community based ba ang gusto nating service. Should we partner with a daycare, public elementary school (will entail paper works ) or aonther orphanage (take out the kids)?
If we push through with a combined 'tree planting/adopt a kid" option, how are we to make sure that our activity will be enjoyable for our kid-beneficiaries? I've been to La mesa Eco Park at medyo madami din namang choices na gagawin dun like boating, wall climbing, walking trails and all. Im just afraid na baka hindi masyado exciting yun for the kid, baka lang po hindi enough ang puppet show para maalis sila. So we really need to identify our beneficiaries.
So linawin po muna natin ang goal natin :) Ano ba talaga kuya? hjehehehe
1) To share a day with less fortunate kids and give them a happy childhood memory (Sharing as defined in here, means talagang 1 kid per jologs or 2, as in taking full responsibility talaga)
2) To share a day with less fortunate kids and help them understand the importance of nature conservation (cguro pag ganto older age group kailangan natin like mga grade 3-4, but not so sure din, hehe)
Madami pa pde masabi na goals, pero I hope you get what I mean, dun po based ang ating magiging activity and all.
So yun po muna. Need your inputs before Tuesday po. Thanks.
Chelle

latest update of the Give Love Project as of November 5, 2009
A message from Ate Ni:
Im really grateful for the overwhelming response. Just goes to show the bigheartedness of Jologs. Maraming, maraming salamat!
@ Mav, Misyel, Anya, JM, Mayet: maraming salamat sa inputs at suporta, lalo na sa promised na donation. hehe! miss na namin kayo. hope everything is well.
@ Pepper: sana maka-join ka din, we miss you Peps!
@ Teng: pwede mo na po ba start yung site/blog that you were suggesting, para may space tayo to interact at ma-promote ang ating activity? para we can just give the link to friends who want to support us. thanks for this bright idea! :) let's turn this into reality.
Issues and Concerns (some of them may be personal. sorry)
1) who will be in charge of lead coordination? any volunteer/s? im super swamped with work at present. i dont have time to even read emails. i would love to be in charge and help out but my schedule is too chaotic (some of you knows this already so i wont explain anymore). May i suggest, Michelle (since she indicated this in her email) and Alex (since he has the bright idea of doing the activity in La Mesa Eco Park) to take the lead? At syempre di mawawala si Ully? If they all agree, sila na ang mag-coordinate with us on updates and concerns and they will start their work na. We should address questions and concerns to them as well.
2) Ganun pa din ba yung line up ng committees? or may mag-merge? Mag-iiba ba?
3) Ully to finalize the total number of votes kung may ma-receive pa tonight or bukas (Ully agreed to this already habang magka-YM kami kanina)

Our 2009 Project
On October 29, 2009 Ate Ni sent us yet another email for the upcoming Give Love 2009 which states:
And that kicked off the planning for this year's activity.
Dear Jologs,
The exciting time has come again for us to share our blessings! Ully and I had a fun talk yesterday and we want to start turning the wheels for our outreach project this December, since we only got about 5 weeks to prepare for that.
Below are our suggestions. Please, your inputs are much needed. We are hoping for everyone's support, enthusiasm, generosity, response and bright ideas.
A) Theme
Give Love 2009: a jologs outreach project (This is branding. Hehe! We thought that since we used that theme last year, might as well use it again this year. What do you think?)
B) T-shirt
It would be uber nice if we have a shirt this year. We have volunteered Efren to design!
Please choose your preferred color
1. Yellow
2. Green
3. Pink
C) Date (please state your preference)
1. Dec 5 (Saturday)
2. Dec 6 (Sunday)
3. Dec 12 (Saturday)
4. Dec 13 (Sunday)
D) Activity (please state your preference; suggestions are also welcome)
1. Donate for typhoon survivors then we personally give to the communities; OR Volunteer in the repacking of goods (connect with LGUs or NGOs)
2. Tree planting; OR Connect with an environment-advocate organization and support their activity in December, if there is one
3. Adopt a street child for a day. We would link with community organizers or NGOs who are working for street children. Then we will tour the kids (we can go to museo pambata, luneta, zoo, and/or to a mall, timezone, eat at Jollibee, etc). One kid will be assigned per person.
4) Party for the cancer patients at the Philippine Children̢۪sMedical Center () Quezon City
5) Party for the women prisoners in Correctional (Mandaluyong)
E) Participants
Jologs + Friends (PCHRD and DOST friends as well as respective friends who are willing to join or to donate or do both)
F) Working Committtees
1. Lead Coordination (Role: coordinate with the beneficiaries; coordinate with all committees; see that everything is running well) Ully and I are very much willing to step back and pass the torch to anyone who wants to volunteer here.
2) Programme (Role: come up with games, activities + materials needed)
3) Food (Role: ensure that everyone is fed)
4) Transportation (Role: coordinate with possible vehicles that we need to rent)
5) T-shirt (Role: design, buying, printing of shirts)
6) Music (Role: download music, bring CDs, players, speakers)
7) Shopping/Re-packing: (Role: buy gifts, donations and re-pack them)
8) Documenation (Role: take pictures, videos, write blogs)
9) Finance (Role: get all contributions, budget/liquidate money)
G) Jologs who should be part of the Working Committees (please indicate your name above in the committee/s that you want to be involved in; 3 committee members at most; although others can volunteer)
1. Ni
2. Ully

H) Donation
At least PhP500 each. Excluded dito yung food, transpo, t-shirt at ano pa mang expenses. The 500 will solely be for donations.
Jologs friends abroad are so welcome to donate. Hehe!
I) Reminders
Please give your response on or before 5 November 2009 (Thursday). We will finalize by 6 November 2009 (Friday). So speak up and let your vote be counted. Please share your votes/ideas on your preferred date/activities/t-shirt color.

Ayun lang muna po for now.
Thanks and looking forward to your response.
Have a great day!
Give Love 2008: A PCHRD Jologs Outreach Program
December 7, 2008 was a really cool experience. it was tiring but really fun!

first picture here:

i shot this first pic as we were waiting for the others to arrive. the call time was 8AM sharp, but it was almost 9AM but there were still just a few of us. kuya vince and pearl got really early it think. then there's nanay gudit and her four children: gayle, jopol, tayan and sean. then the girls, cha, julie, jaja, my sister jade and i.
we think the kids were starting to get impatient so we decided to talk with them.

ate alma was the next to arrive after us, with her cute daughter, Tin.
and then a few minutes past nine, the bunch arrived... FINALLY! and in style, in a crosswind.hehehe

kuya vince opened the door for the newly arrived

and then we started the program with ate alma leading the prayer instead of kuya jeremy as was in the program. they still weren't around at that time.

ate alma leading the opening prayer, the kids standing up getting ready for the program we prepared
what's really fun about kids is that they are really very honest! when ate janice take hold of the mic and asked them if they were getting bored and tired from waiting for the program to start they loudly said yes!
the program kicked off with a wonderful performance from the kids. they really danced greatly, and entertained all of us.

the kids conquered the dance floor as the audience watch in awe
the first game was the leg race, with two teams. team Christmas star and team Christmas tree... i forgot who won though..hehehe

kids lined up with the ates and kuyas as the game of leg race begin
after a tiring and fun game, and after ate sweet has let cute little zeke sleep, a very nice story telling of How Christmas Started was told to the very imaginative and fun kids. it was really funny when ate sweet asked "Bakit may pasko?" (Why do we celebrate Christmas?), the kids always answered: "Kasi malapit na mag-pasko!" (Because Christmas is coming!) they were really adorable. that answer kept repeated until one of them finally said that it was the day Jesus was born.

love this picture. yun lang.hehehe
and after the story telling was another game, the newspaper dance! cha and ate erin won the game.

cha and ate erin doing their best to win! girl power dominates!

kuya vince having fun with his team mates as kuya jeremy strut his stuff and go full blast
while two sisters hold on for a stiff competition
one thing i have to tell you, these kids LOVE TO DANCE! and we really enjoyed their performance as much as they did. a kid named anthony mark and was called bibo kept doing flips until one of the boys also did it. we enjoyed watching them but we had to stop them until doing about four flips each because it was a hard floor and their backs could've hurt from it.

we had our own little FREE HUGS CAMPAIGN! yey!
and kuya efren looked like Juan Mann when he was holding the sign up.

zeke looking up to his dad

little zeke was the one having the most fun, munchin' on everything. the card board, his little hands and his towel.

and the last performance was from sean and tayan.
their poem version of moymoy palaboy

jade said sean looked like the man
in the Youtube phenomenon Moymoy Palaboy
and that was it.
it was fun!
it was great!
'til next time
we should make.

salamat sa mga bata
