The adventures of the Shopping Committee and friends

It was a very exciting day for the Shopping Committee and friends. Armed with a piece of paper for our shopping list and brimming with enthusiasm, off our team went to Divisoria.

As soon as we reach the bridge going to Divi, everything was non-moving and a traffic enforcer was directing us to take a detour. But then, all roads going to Divi was jammed with traffic. We even had a near-confrontation experience when the jeep we were riding deadlocked with a car from the other lane. We advised our jeppney driver to not confront the other driver coz we were worried the other driver might be carrying a weapon. Good thing, our jeepney driver heeded us ^_^

Since it was traffic, traffic everywhere and we were running late, we decided to walk to the New Divisoria Mall. I'm not really familiar with the streets and landmarks around Divi but all I can say was, it was a bit of a walk; going around cars in the middle of the road and item displays on the sidewalks teehee ^_^

The first thing that we were able to buy were the toys (for the bags and prizes ^_^). I guess it's the easiest coz they were everywhere. Next stop was the water bottle.

We weren't able to find the shirts, shorts and bags that we wanted so we decided to go to the Tutuban Mall. Along the way, we saw a group of gays selling plain white shirt. They gave us the shirt for 50 pesos each initially, but later gave it to us for 45 pesos. We thought it was a bit expensive coz we were asking the shirt for 35 pesos. So we left the stall.

Lo and behold, as we got to Tutuban, the cheapest that we got to with the same shirt was 75 pesos! So we said NO to these and kept on thinking about the 45 pesos shirt hehehe

The slippers were a no-brainer coz a few walk from the entrance of the Tutuban Mall, we saw these 3 for a 100 pesos slippers ^_^ Without thinking twice, we choose Dora slippers, Power Rangers slippers, and Tom and Jerry slippers. Weee!

We went around looking for shorts but the designs that we kept on bumping into were for girls *sigh* It was really hard looking for a unisex shorts. But then, God really provides. We saw this good enough shorts for the kids that would go well with either boy or girl. We asked how much and the saleslady said 50 pesos. I asked if we can have them at 3 for 100 and the owner said YES! Woohoo! Another great deal for us ^_^

So the last and I think the hardest find was the bag. We saw other bags that would've been ok but... nah! We didn't go for it because the material wasn't really that nice and were small. We also got to this bag stall where they sell really nice katya bags. Unfortunately, it was a bit expensive for our budget. Some of us were exhausted and would've wanted to settle with those bags but no...

As they say: When in doubt, DON'T. Us, girls, decided to walk around a bit. The boys were really tired carrying our heavy load hehehe Just as we were crossing the street, we saw this bag store where they sell everything for 50 pesos. And the perfect bag for the kids were there! Hurray!

When we went back to the gays selling the shirt, we asked again how much for the shirt they said 50 pesos but they can give it to us at 45 pesos a shirt. We said 40 pesos. They asked how many pieces are we getting. We said 15. OK, so they said ^_^ Ahh... the art of bargaining ^_^

Finally! We were able to get all the loot bags stuff.

As I've said on my email to the Jologs previously, it was all worth it: the elbowing with people, trying to get your way around... the long walks... and the last but definitely not the least, Ully's bag being slashed. Good thing, the thief was not able to get either of Ully's wallet or celphone.

We were very exhausted but our grins reached our ear. It was really all worth it! ^_^
